Boundaries And Social Networking
Many of us are aware of some of the dangers of electronic social networking. Flaming post wars, teen suicides, embarrassing situations (and pictures) posted publicly – all these have been in the news. Yet bazillions of us are getting into Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking venues. Including blogs like this one. I’ve not given much sustained thought to the problems this creates, especially for pastors. That was brought to my attention by a recent article written by Rev. Dr. Jim Antal, Conference Minister of the Massachusetts Conference of the UCC. While this article is aimed at pastors, I’m posting a link to it here and encourage you, especially parents, to give it a read. It may help you understand what kind of world “social networking” is, what the dangers are, and how to protected yourself. It may also give you some insight into a pastor’s life and concerns.
